Guide for New Users
Are you new to the forum life?
Here's a guide to help you get started.

Categories: These are to help with navigating the forum. They are listed at the top of each section. The categories for this forum are: Welcome!, The Library, Critic's Corner, Writer's Club, and Real Life

Category: A thread that contains both Forums and Sub-Forums.

Forums or Threads: These are to keep common topics together. They are listed underneath their respective categories. For example, the Welcome! category contains: The Forum, FAQ and Help, and Introductions
  • There are also descriptions underneath each forum title. These tell you what is discussed in that thread. Please check those before starting your topic.

Sub-Forums or Threads: These are forums or threads that on inside another forum or thread. For example, In the General Thread located under The Library category, there is a sub-forum: Bulletin Board.

Topics: These are inside of Forums and Sub-Forums. Members are allowed to start these if they want to discuss a certain topic. For example, In the The Forum thread there are topics such as 'Board Guidelines' and 'Suggestions for the Forum?' To post a topic: Click this button that's located in the top lefthand corner of the forum:

Posts: These are how you reply to a topic. When you want to say something or discuss, at the top and the bottom of each topic there is this button: or you can use the 'quick reply' box that's located at the bottom of every topic.

Quote: Do you want to respond to something someone else said? Click this button: Or if you want to respond to more than one person, click this button on each other posts you want to quote, then click 'post reply':

Spoilers: If your post is going to contain something that you think will spoil a part of a book for members who have yet to read it, you will write your post then highlight the part that is the spoiler then click Other (located with all the other buttons next to the Capital 'A'). Since this is a book forum, you will use this a lot. Smile Also use this if you have a photo you want to share that stretches the forum.

Portal: The portal is like a homepage for the site. It shows the top posters, the newest topics, who's online, a poll, the latest topics, and the topics in the category: 'The Forum.' (This is under construction. Smile )

Gallery: This is where you can share pictures with other members. There is a section for fan art and a section for normal pictures. To upload a picture: Click Gallery>Click on a album>Send a Pic (This is also under construction Smile )

F.A.Q: Located at the top of the page after 'Home' and 'Search.' This is where common questions about the forum in general are. Check there before asking a mod or admin.

Search: If you are trying to find a certain topic, or if you want to see if I topic already exists, type in a keyword in the search and it will tell you if there are any topics containing your keyword. You can choose if you want to see the results in topic form or post form. Please use this before posting a topic.

Memberlist: Do you want to see all the users? This is where you can see them. All users are listed there.

Usergroups: These are for members who have special permissions. The admins have a group and the mods have a group. Later on, more groups may be added.

Profile: This is your personal profile. You can update any information you want in the fields provided. To upload your avatar: Profile>Avatar>Upload. To upload a signature Profile>Signature>Fill out the box. You may also add friends and foes here.

Private Messages: Sometimes other users will send you a message. If they do, a small window will pop up telling you so. You can either chose to go to your inbox or close the window. If you want to send someone a PM, click on either their profile page or a post they have made.

  • Subject : Normal Topics
  • Subject - New : Topics that contain new posts
  • Subject - Hot & New : Hot topics that contain new posts
  • Subject - Locked : Topics that are locked
  • Subject - New & Locked : Locked Topics that contain new posts
  • Subject - Hot : Topics that are 'hot' (a lot of people are posting)
  • Announcement : An announcement from the admins and/or mods
  • Announcement - New : An announcement from the admins and/or mods containing new posts
  • Sticky : Topics that stay at the top of a thread.
  • Sticky - New : Topics that stay at the top of a thread that contain new posts
  • Category : Indicates that the forum contains a sub-forum
  • Category - New : Indicates that the forum contains a sub-forum and contains new posts
  • Category - Locked : Indicates that the forum contains a sub-forum and is locked to members.
  • Forum : Normal Forum or Thread
  • Forum - New : Forum that contains new posts
  • Forum - Locked : Forum that is locked
