Lately it seems Hollywood is snapping up every new YA novel it can find that they think will be a good movie.
What are your views on this?

I personally am kind of annoyed by it now. Look at the bulletin board...there's so many and I'm still finding out about more. I think there's some that are great choices, but I think it's just going to become a big mess of competing films.

I like some of them, but they are taking on a lot.
Plus they never make the movies the same as the books...so I fear that they'll ruin a few books for me =[

I agree! At least with the Hunger Games, the author herself is writing the screenplay! Very Happy
But there's so many and even though all the books are different, it's still going to become a big mess because most of them are series!

See..that I'll read the books and then see the movie since it's the author so you know it'll be good =]

Yah..and if they take the first book from a series and make it good then they're obliged to make the rest or they'll have dissappointed fans...or they'll end up making it really bad and ruining it (Like Eragon ¬¬ )

Im kinda annoyed with it too.
Because a lot of people watch the movie and not read the books and so they have a terribly different interpretation of them both.

I'm excited for Beautiful Creatures. Even though I prefer it not being a movie.
I totally see a Tim Burton dark side.
The book is dark. Imagine if he were to direct.
But I know that won't happen.
He did a movie based on the South, Big Fish.
And add his dark vision, amazing.
Just my thought on a director.

They already have a director (Richard LaGravenese who's also writing the script) and producer (Erwin Stoff) for it Smile It'll be from the same studio as Harry Potter! Very Happy

Oh, I knew that.
But Tim Burton would've been a good director
cause he brings a dark side. And the book is dark.
But ehhh, I hope they don't screw it up.
Surprised

Well Disney did a good job with Pirates, though it was never a book.

I just want to see Dear John and House of Night. I'm not really into the whole book = movie thing.
Though I would like to see Best Served Cold as a film, as long as the cast and crew were good.

I don't know what it is with Hollywood taking books and making them movies. They're starting to do that with video games. BioShock is becoming a movie and my brother is so annoyed by it. It's like are the writers running out of ideas?

i cannot wait for house of night though i think it will be ruined and not at all how i imagined it. i can't be assed with all the girls at school going 'oh we're the biggest fans of house of night!' without even reading the books. and then they will have all decided who's team their on and will have it in their msn pm's for months. just like with twilight.

i think sometimes the movies/tv series can help booksales -although brilliant writers i believe this of, stephen king, jk rowling and charlaine harris.

but im getting fed up of books being made for films aimed at 13-16year olds, they seem to forget young adults go up to around 25years, i found the twilight films a bit 'young' for me, even though they are enjoyed by people from a vast age range - thankgod for trueblood and its 'adultness'
