The Hunger Games
by Suzanne Collins

Since there is a topic on The Hunger Games series, click here to read the book description. This review is of the first book: The Hunger Games.

Genre:
Fiction / Science Fiction

My Review:
Before I joined YABC I didn't even know this book existed. I'm glad that I joined. It had gotten rave reviews from other YABC members so I was expecting something that was going to grab me and make me obsessed. Well I'm not obsessed, I'm captivated.
Set in the ruins of the U.S., now called Panem, this book leaves you guessing. It keeps you in anxiety filled suspense and then hits you, like guerrilla warfare. Well written in first person from Katniss' perspective, you see and experience everything she does. The details are so well written you can see the scenery, the people, everything. Let your imagination loose to run with Katniss. It's a trip worth taking and don't worry, she'll keep you safe. Very Happy Suzanne Collins isn't a New York Times Bestselling Author for nothing.

Characters:
Katniss Everdeen - The Main Character. A average yet strong willed girl and a excellent archer. She has worked through hardship since she was little and now faces the toughest and probably the cruelest test of survival in Panem.

Along with Katniss there is an array of colorful characters from bright and funny to dark and dooming. This cast is something more like a circus than what you would think they would need to be for the task at hand.

My Rating:

5/5 Hoof prints

There is a difference between Beauty and True Beauty. Beauty is visual, vanity. True Beauty is felt, with the heart. It fills you in ways you never thought it would.
