Secret Society by Tom Dolby

Secrets, secrets are no fun. Secrets, secrets hurt someone. . . .

An eccentric new girl. A brooding socialite. The scion of one of New York's wealthiest families. A promising filmmaker. As students at the exclusive Chadwick School, Phoebe, Lauren, Nick, and Patch already live in a world most teenagers only dream about.

They didn't ask to be Society members. But when three of them receive a mysterious text message promising success and fame beyond belief, they say yes to everything—even to the harrowing initiation ceremony in a gritty warehouse downtown and to the ankh-shaped tattoo they're forced to get on the nape of their necks. Once they're part of the Society, things begin falling into place for them. Week after week, their ambitions are fulfilled. It's all perfect—until a body is found in Central Park with no distinguishing marks except for an ankh-shaped tattoo.

Tom Dolby makes his teen fiction debut with this riveting novel about a dangerous society so secret that once you get in, you can never get out.

Okay, first let's start with things I like/things I didn't:

Overall, I really liked this book. It was exciting and suspenseful and nothing I thought was going to happen actually did. For example, the book begins with the death of a character and, you think that the question that will be answered at the end, among other questions, is who was killed. You do find out eventuallly, but not only was it not who I expected at all, but the book didn't end there. There was still even more questions to be answered. Even at the end of the book, you are still left with several questions, which really makes me hope there's going to be a sequel. But, if not, I guess that's just another thing that makes this book fun. It leaves you to make your own decsions about what happens.

There wasn't much about this book I didn't like, and the few things I didn't like weren't that important to the plot, anyway, so it was okay :].

Next is favourite characters:

I think my favourite character out of the whole book was Patch. I didn't like him at first, but by the end, I did. He was very sneaky ^^, which was awesome. And he kind of reminded me of Mark from RENT a little. If o ly he had a scarf and rode everywhere on a bike.... :3.

Another character I really liked was Lauren. She seemed kind of snotty, but I could relate to her love of buying clothes :]. And, in the end, she didn't seem as snotty and I actually ended up feeling sorry for her. But, you'll have to read the book to find out why *evil laughter*.

The other two main characters, Phoebe and Nick, were okay, although I kind of thought Phoebe was a little whiny, but that's just my opinion.

This book is hard to give a review for without giving away too much information, so I think I'll just leave it at that :3.

I'm reading 'Glass' right now, and that might be the next book I review, but that might change XD.

Hope you liked my review and feel free to leave some comments!!
